Refunds & Cancellations

Effective date: 21 August 2025

These rules complement our Terms and Conditions. If anything here conflicts with mandatory consumer law where you live, your local consumer rights remain unaffected.

Quick Summary

  • Private Lessons (EXCHANGENB OÜ, Stripe): Cancel at least 12 hours before start → full refund; cancel less than 12 hours means no refund (see details below).
  • eBooks (PDF, How To Study German LLC, Paddle): Delivered by download. After the download begins, no refunds. If a file/link is faulty, we will re-deliver.
  • Premium Quizzes (planned, Paddle): Consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal with pro-rata refund based on the portion of the service already provided (details and formula below).

Private Lessons – Cancellations (EXCHANGENB OÜ)

  • Format: Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams. Standard lesson: 55 minutes.
  • Cancel free of charge: If you cancel at least 12 hours before the start time, we refund the lesson fee to your original payment method.
  • Late cancellations / no-shows: Cancellations made less than 12 hours before the start time, or no-shows, are charged in full.
  • Payments: Processed via Stripe. Timing of funds appearing back on your statement depends on your bank/card issuer.

EBooks (PDF) – Refunds (How To Study German LLC via Paddle)

  • Delivery: eBooks are provided as PDF via secure download link and/or email immediately after successful purchase.
  • Withdrawal notice: At checkout we request your explicit consent to immediate delivery and acknowledgment that you lose the 14-day withdrawal right once the download begins.
  • Refunds: Because access is provided immediately, refunds are generally not available after the download has begun. If a file is defective or a link does not work, contact us and we will assist with re-delivery.
  • Payments & taxes: Processed by Paddle (Merchant of Record). Applicable VAT/GST may be collected by Paddle.

Premium Quizzes (Digital Service) – Refunds (planned)

Note: Premium quizzes are not yet available. This policy will apply upon launch.

  • Service nature: Ongoing online access to interactive quiz content delivered on our website.
  • Withdrawal right (pro-rata): You may withdraw within 14 days of purchase. If you have not started using the service, we refund the full price. If you have started using the service, we will provide a partial refund (pro-rata) for the unused portion.

  • How we calculate pro-rata (content-based): We base the deduction on the percentage of premium-quiz content you have accessed or completed at the time you notify us of withdrawal.

  • Formula: Refund = Price × (1 − % content viewed or completed)

    Example: If you purchased for €30 and have viewed/completed 20% of the available quiz content, we deduct 20% and refund 80% → €24.

    If measurement is unclear: If the exact percentage cannot be reasonably determined (e.g., technical issues), we will apply a fair pro-rata using the lower of (i) time elapsed and (ii) content completed.

  • Alternative metric if needed: If time cannot be measured reliably (e.g., lifetime access), we may use the lower of (i) time elapsed and (ii) percentage of completed modules to determine a fair pro-rata deduction.
  • Payments & taxes: Processed by Paddle (Merchant of Record). Applicable VAT/GST may be collected by Paddle.

How to Request a Refund or Cancellation

  1. Find your receipt: Use your email receipt (Stripe for lessons, Paddle for digital products). Keep your order number handy.
  2. Contact us: Email in**@**************an.com with your name, order number, and a brief description (e.g., “cancel lesson” or “eBook link not working”).
  3. Processing time: Approved refunds are initiated promptly to your original payment method. Bank/card processing times vary.

Governing Law (for this page)

  • Private lessons & general site services: Estonian law; venue: Tallinn, Estonia (EXCHANGENB OÜ).
  • Digital products (eBooks, premium quizzes): Laws of the United States and the State of Wyoming, where How To Study German LLC is formed; venue: competent state or federal courts in Wyoming, in the county where How To Study German LLC has its principal place of business.
  • Consumer protection: Mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected to the extent they apply.
